Our sweet new daughter, Megan Elizabeth, was born on Tues. Nov. 9th at 12:30pm. She weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and 18" long. At her two week checkup she had already gained 13 oz...yes, she is a eater as those big checks will confirm, although the rest of her is pretty skinny. She still has her days and nights switched - which means about every 2 hours at night we think we need to eat and then take long naps during the day. But then you just look at her and melt so it doesn't matter that you don't get any sleep.
Samantha is a doting big sister who has handled this transition very well, much to our relief. We were a little worried about what trantrums or other episodes might occur with a sibling taking some of Mom & Dad's attention away from Sam, but she has been awesome! She is my big helper and has grown up so much these past few months; I can't believe how fast time flies.
So here are a few pics for you to enjoy. We only have about 200 to choose from....I know, a little carried away, but what new parent isn't, right :-)

just some pics
I thought I would post a few photos from the last few months; I never seem to have time to actually sit down and blog for each event. Enjoy!
This is Sam being a "mom" w/ my lipstick on....the first time we had the hardest time not laughing at her. Needless to say I don't use that lipstick anymore.

Samantha Strikes Again!!!
Bedtime is so much fun around our house...never a dull moment. Tonight, after throwing a very mild tantrum once she was in bed, Sam quieted down. She was rather quite for about 30 - 45 min, when all of a sudden we hear..."mommy...mommy...mommy...Mommy...MOMMY! Why are you still awake? It's past your bed time! Where do these kids come up with this stuff??? Needless to say Kara and I tried our hardest to contain our laughter. Some times it is just too hard to stay serious and get upset when you have that kind of comedy coming down the hall.

The Princess Room
Today is Samantha's birthday! Happy number 4 Sam!!!
She wanted a "Princess Room" for her birthday....Darn you Extreme Home Make Over!
Kara did a fantastic job picking out the decorations...She actually made all the princess portraits, and did all the stamping on the bottom half of the wall (castles, crowns, and paisleys).
Of course the colors had to be pink and purple. The pink color was actually called "Pretty in Pink", and came from the Disney color selection at Home Depot. She also wanted a yellow ceiling, but we managed to talk her out of that...Whew! The head board was one we had to put together ourselves, which was quite an adventure, involving a tap and dye set, and dish soap!
We have posted a few pictures for you all to view. Please enjoy!!!

Write a letter to Heavenly Father
Sowe have started making paper chains to count down the days to different events. We have also used it count down the days Sam goes to bed good. If she goes to bed good, she gets to tear one link off, when they have all been torn off, she gets a reward. That is how she got her wagon.
Recently she has not been going to bed so well, so her wagon got taken away. We just made another chain for her to try and get her wagon back.
Sam and daddy went on a date just this Friday night, in part to celebrate her first week at her new pre-school. While driving to Chick-a-lay (that is Samantha for Chick-fil-a), Sam suddenly said, "we need to make a chain for when my brother or sister comes...***That is not an announcement, just something Sam has been saying lately*** She added "then we can write a letter to Heavenly Father to tell him that I want a sister not a brother.
We don't believe that she is confusing Santa and Heavenly Father, but it just makes sense that if we don't usually see Santa and have to write him letters to tell him what we want, it must be the same with Heavenly Father.

DQS
So this week we started preschool/daycare. If you ask Sam how it is going she will tell you that she "hates it because there is boys there & lots of kids". Granted there are a lot more kids then what she is used to, but if you ask her teachers how she is doing they will tell you great! She even participated in show and tell; a big step for our shy girl.
The shy girl is just one side of Samantha; then we have the at-home-drama-queen side ( a.k.a DQS Drama Queen Sam) that makes us laugh and sometimes pull our hair out.
So we have had a power stuggle every morning to get DQS there and then we get the drama at night. I think she has inherited my gene of not accepting change very well.... the bedtime saga has returned to her taking 2+ hours to go to sleep; tonight when I told her to get back in bed and go to sleep she told me at the top of her voice "you are ruining my life!" That's right, I already got the "you're ruining my life" line, from a 3 year old.......Brandon & I couldn't believe it! I don't know where she got it from but I have to admit I thought she would be at teenager before I got that line; obviously a serious mistake in my thinking.
Here are a few other nighttime sayings for your enjoyment that are being said to me from her room as I am typing this blog:
- there is a daytime bug in my eye that is keeping me awake (as opposed to a sleepy bug in your eyes which makes you go to sleep? )
- I need a bowl because I just threw up in my tummy
- what are you going to do Mom? stay up? talk to Daddy? What? Are you going to sleep guys, then just go. Just go to sleep. What is your problem? Why you not listening to me? Guys! I know you are out there!........it just keeps going
- when saying prayers we said "bless Sam to have a good day at preschool tomorrow" to which she replied "and bless Sam to not go to preschool tomorrow" We almost lost it laughing at that.
She finished off the night with her statement “I’m leaving my door open, cause I’m stinkin’ hot”!
So if sending my child to preschool so she isn't bored & making her go to sleep is "ruining her life" what happens when I really do have to have a "tough love' moment? Boy am I in trouble......
